# Running changelog All timestamps use ISO 8601 with a timezone or explicit UTC. Entries describe completed work and evidence; planned work stays in the checklist. ## 2026-09-27 — Field Lab 0.4 source, allowance controls and island pilot (UTC) - Added live allowance controls to gameplay and stress viewers: slider from 1 to 10^100, exact integer/exponent entry, separate requested/effective/world/rendered counts. One-Gaussian and googol settings passed actual browser checks; physics continued independently. - Added isolated two-dimensional projection/radix dispatch, a 32-million resident implementation ceiling subject to GPU limits, and exact GPU sorting readback at 3,000,017 entries in both portable/subgroup paths. The request UI range is independent of the finite resident ceiling. - Added deterministic density reduction and GPU arena compaction. Actual 8m→1→8m reclamation/restoration passed without context loss. Review fixed async UI races, loading-time changes, invalid URL budgets, warning visibility and resident-instance reporting. - Added one-billion-placement mode using 1,000 shared-source instances and a bounded resident window. An 8m-resident 720p, 120-frame GPU-fenced orbit measured15.19FPS,68.6ms p95 and724.8MiB tracked buffers on RTX4070Laptop/driver610.88 with other sessions active. Static sort-reuse performance is not substituted for this result. - Acquired licensed M1A2SEPv3 source by dannzjs; generated100k/250k/1m Gaussian candidates. The master samples all255,884 source triangles.12 converter tests and independent codec/hierarchy readback passed. Scale, exact configuration, functional rig and photoreal acceptance remain open; gameplay keeps its tested fixture. - Added general GeoJSON/elevation JSON intake, WGS84 local coordinates, explicit vertical datum/NoData policies, bilinear sampling and terrain normals. Patos pilot:245,760 supported USGS elevation samples +40,000 authored sea-plane samples over a nominal10km² region including water. Appearance, vegetation, roads, collision and gameplay integration remain unfinished. - Added isolated gravity/drag/wind/swept-collision component and seven-entry sourced arsenal catalog. Unknown real performance stays null; gameplay integration is pending. UH60M door guns and armedS70 variants stay distinct. - Final focused CPU checks passed54/54 across allowance, scene lifecycle, compaction, budget planning, geodata, ballistics and host routes. Browser/GPU evidence is separate under reports/sandbox. See docs/sandbox/FIELD_LAB_STATUS.md and EXPANSION_CHECKLIST.md. - Prior Beta0.3.1 packaged EXE passed actual WebGPU/advancing-physics smoke. Its339,072,027-byte ZIP passed1,179-entry readback, SHA2567c82cee17590eae5f477cbf46e0f9462490bf62371cfc248818f3fb725890b04. Previous builds remain preserved. ## 2026-09-27 — Field beta gameplay, physical contact and Gaussian glass (UTC) - Added an isolated `beta/` application with Gaussian-only infantry, tank/helicopter fixtures, forest/desert ranges, crew transitions, squad commands, training combat, reload, respawn and local text chat. Visible vehicle and soldier quality remains unaccepted; the real variant names identify replacement targets, not verified geometry. - Tank movement now comes from Rapier rigid bodies, spring support, traction, steering and braking forces. Helicopter motion uses gravity, collective lift, assisted cyclic/yaw torque and ground/ceiling contact. Infantry uses a collision capsule. Fixed stationary capsule sinking with an independent support-plane check and fixed maximum-collective altitude escape with a physical ceiling. - Added deterministic bounded squad routing around obstacles, hull entrance approach, exclusive seat reservations and stable waiting at a full vehicle. Safe exit guards, disconnect cleanup and down-only same-identity respawn have CPU regression tests. - Reused actual Neon Rain room/name helpers and ws transport with recorded provenance, adding a clearly separate authoritative v2 gameplay protocol. Live two-client tests cover movement, seat contention, AI orders, firing, chat, room isolation and malformed traffic. Browser loading exposed excess snapshot backpressure; immutable map fields now travel once at welcome and superseded snapshots are dropped under backpressure. - Accepted the dedicated drafter's 3,787-byte input module unchanged after matching SHA-256 and 12 independent lifecycle/mapping tests. Actual browser F boarding, tank drive/brake, camera toggle, safe-exit rejection and text chat were exercised. Added visible right-drag look/left-fire fallback for embedded-browser pointer-lock failures. - Acquired and hashed CC0 8K Forest Ground01 and Sand01 diffuse masters by Rob Tuytel/Poly Haven. Their small runtime color samples feed Gaussian terrain. Public Blue Spirit soldier package retrieval failed; no unverified package or photoreal soldier was admitted. - Added beta-only explicit Gaussian glass material data and WebGPU shader for tinted alpha, view-dependent Fresnel and analytic sky highlight. Live NVIDIA GPU checks passed shader compilation, exact opaque pixel parity against the preserved renderer, tagged output change and angular response. This is an appearance approximation without refraction or scene reflections; underlying fixture shell/interior gaps remain. - Root's combined CPU run passed 75/75 checks including ten simulated minutes with 8 humans, 24 friendly AI and 5 opposing AI (36,000 gameplay steps, 72,000 physics substeps). The later focused run after respawn/glass changes passed 80/80 checks. CPU simulation evidence does not establish 120 FPS, calibrated dynamics, BeamNG damage or human playtest acceptance. - Added `docs/beta/BETA_CHECKLIST.md` and `PLAYING_THE_BETA.md`. The main286-item catalog now has16 REJECTED_FIXTURE,5 AUTHORING,2 STARTED_SPEC,263 PLANNED,0 ACCEPTED. Original workshop renderer and previous app/archive releases remain preserved. - Relayed progress to Doom Manager through the authorized controller route, message6041022e-78f8-4b40-ba94-4caea0b437f7 (queued receipt; not treated as independent acceptance). ## 2026-09-27 — Deformable vehicle physics requirement and isolated foundations (UTC) - Packaged the CPU foundations separately as releases/mil-sim-physics-foundations-0.1-20260927T065334Z.zip: 10,577,984 bytes, 73 entries, SHA-256 597153d77990fc2aeaa7871929e296bd18c4b1c0664d440577c284bbedd1e9b9. All source entries passed archive readback. This is an experimental CPU code/reference bundle, not an installed gameplay mod; the prior 0.2 app/archive remains unchanged. - Accepted the drafter's 2,798-byte quarter-car-reference.mjs unchanged after strict base64 reconstruction, matching SHA-256 5268d8ccf00fa695834ea01b8b813ff10f44d0fe93c31db3032858163bd94f98, source review and 10 independent local tests. This is a linear suspension reference, not a complete vehicle solver. Original response/bytes and author-reported checks are preserved separately from Work verification. - The combined local suspension-reference and Gaussian-binding run passed 42/42 tests. Independent binding review also passed 512 randomized affine/covariance trials, all 24 vertex permutations and additional malformed-input checks. CPU Float64 range can exceed renderer Float32 range; runtime admission still needs its own checks. - Vendored exact official @dimforge/rapier3d-compat 0.21.0 in the isolated physics folder. Its 4,990,881-byte tarball matched registry SHA-512/SRI before safe extraction; licence and file hashes are retained. No install hooks ran. - Both author and independent local CPU runs passed four narrow Rapier checks: finite gravity motion, pinned elastic deformation, a soft-frame joint, and plasticity/tearing setting roundtrip. Actual plastic deformation, fracture, ground contact, suspension coupling accuracy, vehicle dynamics, browser/native integration and performance remain untested. No production backend was selected. - Recorded the owner's BeamNG-level physics target: real suspension/tire/drivetrain response, chassis deformation, permanent damage and breakable components. Visible content remains Gaussian splats; hidden mechanical/collision geometry is separate. - Added docs/physics/PHYSICS_REQUIREMENTS.md with staged acceptance, engine boundary, numerical/visual/performance checks and calibration gaps. Source review compares documented Rapier, Jolt, Chrono and Rigs of Rods capabilities. No production backend or fidelity claim follows from library selection. - Independent engine audit confirmed the current app has only render-paced kinematics. Existing affine Gaussian instances can carry coarse cage deformation; full simulation, worker lifecycle, damage topology and correct deformed-surface lighting remain integration work. - Added an isolated affine Gaussian cage-binding component under physics/. Its initial author-run 32 CPU tests passed; independent review is recorded separately when complete. It is a deformation coupling component, not a force solver or crash simulation. - Started the wheeled-handling and damage-system specifications in the existing 286-item catalog: 16 REJECTED_FIXTURE, 1 AUTHORING, 2 STARTED_SPEC, 267 PLANNED, 0 ACCEPTED. Preserved previous catalog/checklist/README in a timestamped backup. - Owner explicitly authorized Mil Sim Drafting for code. Dispatched MILSIM-PHYSICS-QUARTERCAR-20260927-A for one bounded suspension-reference module; Work retains source review and numerical tests. Dispatch is not accepted code. - Queued MILSIM-PHYSICS-BOUNDARY-20260927-A to Doom Manager when idle, message 94f08077-44bd-4b7d-995b-ae2a4988083e. No existing viewer, GPU renderer, desktop release or immutable 0.2 archive was changed by this physics work. ## 2026-09-27 — Final 0.2 archive readback (06:34 UTC build) - Final archive: releases/mil-sim-gaussian-demo-0.2-20260927T063413Z.zip, 857,869,819 bytes, SHA-256 17a3f0f26285d695f6174cb8423770109057c187be4f151800ffd395da37ec71. - Verified all 2,195 archived source files by size and SHA-256 after compression; 2,196 entries include the release manifest. Final selection check confirmed safe unique relative paths, required launchers, the complete 0.2 Windows folder, all three source Gaussian profiles and attribution. - Independent selection review confirmed 941 required runtime/source paths. Original running app, all backup folders, profiles, reference-only vehicle material, team routing messages and sampling intermediates are excluded. Historical absolute provenance paths do not control relocated launch or rebundling. - Root desktop packaging instructions now require a new unused named release folder. This final archive replaces the earlier 06:32 UTC local snapshot as latest; the previous snapshot is retained locally. This entry follows the final archive snapshot. Receipts: releases/latest-release.json and releases/final-release-audit.json. ## 2026-09-27 — GPU delivery and separate 0.2 source-preview package (UTC) - Doom Manager completed WebGPU projection, sorting and drawing integration and the portable Windows host. Original GPU acceptance passed 25/25, with two controlled WebGL/WebGPU pixel comparisons passing. Actual Windows rendering reached 1,782,100 placed splats; this is renderer acceptance of rejected fixtures, not photoreal art acceptance. - Matched 282,100-splat browser orbit at 1280 x 720 recorded median frame intervals of 66.6 ms WebGL versus 16.7 ms WebGPU. Sampled WebGPU time was 2.294 ms median. No locked 120 FPS or full-game result is claimed. Full evidence and limits: docs/GPU_INTEGRATION_HANDOFF.md. - Added the validated real-source library to the web viewer, with explicit pending/rejected appearance labels. The CC0 Rock Face 01 candidate is selectable at 80,000 / 250,000 / 1,000,000 samples. Source-library plus renderer/viewer CPU tests passed 57/57. - Packaged the immutable Mil Sim GPU Workshop 0.2 folder: 1,042 payload files / 1,104,243,451 bytes, with all three source candidate profiles and attribution. CPU host/package checks passed 14/14 and actual packaged routes returned matching bytes. Raw textures and reference-only vehicle art are excluded from the desktop runtime. - Verified all 1,030 recorded files in the original running app remain unchanged. Its package receipt, executable and original fixture manifests retain hashes and timestamps. No competing app, browser or GPU test was launched while the owner used that build. - The 0.2 release reuses the existing Electron executable; it is not a newly compiled native engine. Host package version remains 0.1.0 and PE product metadata remains ASHVEIL. New candidate live rendering and visual acceptance remain pending. - Added Start Desktop Workshop.cmd and desktop-app/latest-build.json for the separate version. Package receipts are in reports/desktop-builds/. This changelog entry follows the immutable app's documentation snapshot; final ZIP readback is recorded separately in releases/latest-release.json. ## 2026-09-27 — Verified modern references and source intake (UTC) - Completed ground and aviation reference ledgers for exact modern variants. Confirmed M1083A2 designation separately from older A1P2 truck data, and standard C-130J separately from C-130J-30. Missing geometry/dimensions remain unknown. No vehicle model admitted from the free-first bounded search. - Added strict Gaussian source intake and 26 passing CPU regressions. Higher spherical harmonics, clipping and unsupported moving-part flattening are blocked rather than discarded. Current native RGB-only appearance remains an explicit limit. - Independent source review passed all three Rock Face 01 profiles, including 195 independently reconstructed texture samples. Corrected manifest bounds to match native Float32 payloads exactly; Gaussian file hashes were unchanged. - Registered the source-based rock candidate against ROCK-007: catalog now 16 REJECTED_FIXTURE, 1 AUTHORING, 269 PLANNED, 0 ACCEPTED. Visual review remains pending. - Updated archive exclusions so reference-only vehicle documents/images, app user profiles, backups and intermediate sampling data are not shipped. Read-only selection review verified current files and boundary cases; final archive build is pending GPU/app acceptance. ## 2026-09-27 — Quality rejection and modern real-asset production (UTC) - Recorded the user's visual rejection of all 16 procedural fixtures. Catalog now has 16 REJECTED_FIXTURE, 270 PLANNED and 0 ACCEPTED; automated smoke checks cannot promote rejected visual work. - Replaced the invented inspired-design brief with modern real named variants: M1151A1 HMMWV, FMTV A2 cargo, M1A2 Abrams SEPv3, UH-60M and standard C-130J. This changes production targets; it does not relabel old files as replicas. - Recorded free sources first, with gaps reported and no purchases authorized. - Sent actual GPU integration request c91d4121-a196-41ce-9b04-075a02932dd1 to Doom Manager through Swarm. Manager later confirmed direct authorization and began isolated GPU/web/Windows executable implementation. Measurement window started around 05:54 UTC. - Acquired Poly Haven Rock Face 01 under CC0 with original 8192 x 8192 textures. Verified all five download sizes and publisher MD5 values, and recorded SHA-256 provenance. - Converted that source into 80,000 / 250,000 / 1,000,000 Gaussian samples with texture-aware linear-sRGB sampling. Native encode/decode roundtrips pass. This is a new static source-based candidate, not trained 3DGS, a replacement vehicle, or visual acceptance. Normal/roughness source maps are retained but unused by the baked-color runtime. ## 2026-09-27 — Workshop initialization (UTC) - Created the requested Desktop `mil sim work` directory and source/asset/viewer/world/documentation/report/release layout. - Located the Doom Manager Team chat and requested the current asset/renderer integration contract under task MILSIM-ASSET-ONBOARD-20260926-01. Request accepted; handoff pending. - Inspected the local ASHVEIL integration review and its limitations. Active source remains owned by the Doom team. - Detected RTX 4070 Laptop GPU, 8,188 MiB reported memory, driver 610.88. This is inventory, not a performance benchmark. - Copied the existing MIT-licensed Three.js r180 runtime and licence into the isolated viewer. - Recorded user-selected starting demo biomes: desert, arid forest, jungle, pine forest. - Started the comprehensive catalog and original vehicle model builders. - User clarified Gaussian splats ONLY. Corrected delivery/display contract: polygon construction is offline only; runtime visuals must be splats, with separate splat clusters for moving components. Conventional mesh viewer work was stopped before delivery. ## 2026-09-27 — First source and export review (UTC) - Added 286-item asset catalog and checklist for the four starting demo biomes, American vehicles, structures, infrastructure, audio/VFX, functional systems, and world acceptance. - Built original offline source scaffolds for five vehicles and eleven environment assets. Source checks passed; source triangle counts are not runtime polygon budgets. - Implemented GASSET01/GWORLD01 and Gaussian PLY export, articulated hierarchy manifests, CRC/shape/quaternion validation, and native-reader compatibility checks. - Added isolated Gaussian-only reference renderer, asset selector, splat part motion, local movement controls, density profiles, and a loopback-only launcher. - Completed Swarm onboarding identity check and sent the single requested onboarding reply. Doom routing message ca7224b8-2084-4a54-a7e4-48c34ebf12ef was observed ACCEPTED; completion and GPU coordination remain separate. - Rejected a build when ground source changed mid-export. Froze source and regenerated before acceptance. - Software visual QA found near-camera ground splats covering the view; added early frustum rejection before covariance projection. Fixed a missing favicon request. - Software visual QA then found missing extruded side surfaces (including roofs/hoods). Root cause: exporter incorrectly applied material-array group indices to single-material meshes. All three density profiles are being regenerated after a targeted regression check. Earlier visual captures are superseded, not accepted final visuals. ## 2026-09-27 — Corrected prototype batch and local GPU verification (UTC) - Fixed the exporter material rule and passed an exact 52 m² extruded-box regression, including all cap and side surfaces. Regenerated all profiles against frozen source hashes. - Completed 16 original Gaussian prototypes and 292 Gaussian part files per density profile: preview 24,000, high 80,000, master 250,000 splats per asset. Master library contains 4,000,000 unique samples. - Passed independent CPU review across 996 stable file hashes, source-triangle coverage, counts/CRCs, hierarchy/transform consistency, and 13 corruption or invalid-transform checks. High/preview articulated points agree with combined exports within 5.723e-7 m. - Passed the original ASHVEIL decoder, Gaussian PLY parser, browser decoder and covariance checks for all three profiles. This is format compatibility, not a native-app render claim. - Built an 80 m × 80 m four-biome `.gworld` test yard with 16 assets and 93 instances; 7.44 million instantiated splats. File/container checks pass; this world's native rendering and runtime budget remain untested. - Corrected vehicle steering and turret/elevation directions, wheel travel/radius phase, reset state, camera following, and asynchronous asset/biome selection ownership. Seventeen CPU motion assertions passed. - Corrected camera framing after the tall pine exceeded the view. Final screenshots show its full silhouette. - Final local hardware smoke PASS on RTX 4070 Laptop GPU through ANGLE/Direct3D11 WebGL2: all 16 assets rendered, 250,000-splat master rendered, doors changed splat transforms, forward movement, reset, landing gear and aircraft altitude controls passed. No page/console errors. Source hashes are pinned in `reports/viewer-hardware-smoke.json`. - Updated catalog to 16 PROTOTYPE, 270 PLANNED, 0 ACCEPTED. Physical simulation, collisions, photo-trained appearance, production renderer integration and completed 10 km² terrain remain open. - Prepared local launcher, offline viewer dependencies, rebuild/validation tools, and ZIP packaging with readback of every archived file. The release's actual size/hash and verification outcome are recorded externally in `releases/latest-release.json` after packaging. ## 2026-09-27 — Verified release archive (UTC) - Created releases/mil-sim-gaussian-demo-0.1-20260927T052708Z.zip:291,115,857 bytes, SHA-256 3282f16c252082c68ff80a8749b4c0c5d844018fdef0993ed404d22e9cec84da. - Read back all1,042 archived source files and matched every size/hash; archive also includes its release manifest (1,043 entries total). External receipt:releases/latest-release.json. The archive is the snapshot immediately before this post-packaging entry. - Queued the bounded release handoff to Doom Manager Team using Swarm --when-idle. Queue acceptance is not integration acceptance. - Requested the local viewer be shown in the Codex panel; UI tool returned queued. Local loopback server remains running for inspection; no GPU benchmark or render process is kept running by the test tools.
